Hello! I live in an apartment where the building was constructed in 1914, and it is 6 stories high.
I am now thinking of tearing down a significant part of the wall (about half) between the kitchen and the living room. The wall is entirely made of wood. However, my association can't say whether it is load-bearing or not. What I need is a construction company that can examine whether it is load-bearing or not, and tear down the wall itself. I don't know what to search for... so do you have any tips?
I can supplement with drawings here in the forum if anyone would like more information.

If it's non-load-bearing, just tear it down. If it's load-bearing, a building permit and permission from the association are required. If he demolishes without permission and it collapses...haavard said:

The houses I have seen of that size usually have stone/brick frames for load-bearing parts.
That's also why I wrote that I believe. The only way to know for sure is, as mentioned, an engineer who looks at the specific case.
