Deck construction-Take up decking after incorrect screwing
I've previously read recommendations about plug cutters, perhaps not for exactly the same issue.StefanBlom said:
Hello
I'm in the process of laying new decking on an existing framework, using hidden screws. But now I need to remove a few boards again and I find it's not easy without getting cracks and splinters from the boards around the screw holes.
Does anyone have any good tips to save the boards?
Regards
Stefan
No personal experience but it should be doable if you can access, it likely involves extra work as I assume the holes need to be plugged afterward and planed/routed to the correct profile, unless you can drill correct plugs from a sacrificial plank, though it seems like some work, hopefully, someone has a better tip or more convenient technique. How many screws are involved?
Edit:
This was probably the last time I read the tip: https://www.byggahus.se/forum/threa...verktyg-och-maskiner-idag.250889/post-5231604
But maybe more general for bad screws or nails.

If you install decking with hidden fastening, you must consider it as permanently screwed in. Movements in the wood mean that you can hardly unscrew the decking after some time and hope that the wood can remain intact at the weak fastening points created by angled screwing - it will result in large splinters breaking off.
