Cutting out windows in a newly built stone house?
We have a question? We might buy a newly built stone house (-07) and are bothered by a window in the kitchen
It is a modern function house built in "sandwich". That is, 70 mm concrete, 200 mm insulation, 80 mm concrete.
The kitchen window is a low-placed window above the kitchen counter. It's so modern nowadays but we hate it
Does anyone know if it's easy to saw open the window hole and replace it?
Currently, there's one that is 4 x 14. We wish for one that is 8 x 14.
The thing is, we've been wanting to build new for a long time, but for various reasons haven't gotten around to it since the price tag always ended up over 4 million!
Now all of a sudden the perfect house with the perfect location has appeared as a godsend at a reasonably attractive price (3.5 million)
Everything is ready for moving in. Just a little tinkering with the plot left and that darn window

Now let's take it easy here.
Are you going to saw downwards or upwards?
Downwards is usually not a problem, but upwards you always have a beam above openings in stone houses.
So you should not saw upwards without the help of an expert who can relieve and create a new load-bearing beam.
A murare can fix this.
Best regards

4*14 to an 8* 14 must mean that steff76 needs to widen the hole...
I interpret the window as a long horizontal one, meaning it's 4 high and should become 8 high, and then you cut upwards, and as somelvis mentions, you need to be careful, but maybe I'm interpreting it wrong?Steff76 said:
A common mistake in window measurements .... it is always width*height and not the other way around.
But I interpret it as ktm250 too.
