I am currently laying roof tiles on the Attefall house and have now reached the edge. To achieve an even finish at the roof edge, I need to cut the last roof tile.
Does it matter where I cut the tile?
I'm wondering if there's a rule that tiles should always be cut at the highest point or in the valley of the waves, if you know what I mean?
That is, at the red or blue marking in the image below
Or does it not matter? Is it most important that the tile is cut as close to the roof edge as possible?
It is important that the sheet covers a bit over the top to the left of red and then it doesn't matter where the cut is. If the sheet doesn't cover over the top, then the panel must be cut at the next highest point = blue.
Additionally, water that enters the valley should be able to flow all the way down without landing on the underroof.
My plan was to cut the roof tile as close to the edge as possible and then lay sheet metal over it. The sheet metal then covers about cm of the roof tile.
The sheet must at least cover over a ridge so that you have a highest point under the actual sheet. I think it might be easier to fit with the help of the sheet than the tile, though, so the sheet doesn't have to be 90 degrees straight down but can be bent to lean slightly out over the roof to ensure it covers well over the tile. I'm not a roofer, but that would probably have been my own solution if I didn't have time to look for a more secure answer.
