Cut aerated concrete with angle grinder

An old hand saw should also work well. An angle grinder spreads unnecessary dust indoors.L LjLindgren said:Hello. I have two arches that I would like to make square. The wall is in fairly porous blocks (lightweight concrete?). The question is whether it's possible to make the cutout with an angle grinder and use a diamond blade or if I should get a reciprocating saw with a blade for lightweight concrete?

If you're not actively looking for a reason to buy a reciprocating saw, you can buy Baco's lightweight concrete saw. If it's real lightweight concrete or porous bricks, it's quite easy to saw.
I wouldn't use an angle grinder.

Just like previously answered, a handsaw usually works if it's lightweight concrete. The angle grinder produces a hell of a lot of dust. There may possibly be thin rebar in certain places but they can be dealt with using a hacksaw or quickly with the angle grinder.

Great. I take it you didn't encounter any reinforcing bars at all, then?
Is there any reason why you have saved the middle pillar?

Just one, quite thin and was easy to take with the hacksaw.
Not really, understand that the wall isn't load-bearing but worried if it still serves some kind of stabilizing function. So pure cowardice is the reason it's still there.

"Grönjävulskt" as an exclamation is something I haven't heard before. Please elaborate!it-snubben said:
haha, there actually were! But the picture was taken before the beer was consumed, so the sideways picture has no connection to the intake of pilsnerdyck.pacman42 said:

Thanks! I had actually promised it would be done by Christmas Eve but missed by a day. I'm a relatively new homeowner and so far I find it quite fun to fix things. It's a nice contrast to my job to do something more concrete and tangible.it-snubben said:
