Custom-sized white boards? Where???

Hello!

I need to find a white board with the dimensions 160x38cm. Previously, I cut a board and sprayed it white, but it wasn't hard enough, it was full of marks after being heavily used during Christmas.. The board lies on three kitchen wall cabinets being used as a "sideboard" and must withstand heavy loads (such as bowls filled with fruit).

Therefore, I am thinking of buying a laminated/foiled board. However, only one side (one long side) is against the wall; the other three sides are visible. This means I can only cut it on one side...

I'm considering buying a desk top from IKEA for 600kr that is 160x80cm and cutting it. I'm a little afraid the cut will look ugly...

Any tips??

I bought a custom-sized board at a relatively okay price at Hornbach. It's all a question of what it costs.

It's possible to make neat cuts yourself if you want and are a bit crafty, even on an Ikea board. Hornbach, Bauhaus, etc. also have cutting/sawing services, so you can buy a "cheaper" standard board and have them cut on one side of it.

Tape, underside up when sawing, fairly fine-toothed sharp blade for the circular saw.

If you go to the lumber yard and buy a laminated shelf board and ask them to cut it to the desired dimensions with their panel saw, you'll get a nice cut. They also sell edge banding that you can apply to the cut short side if they do not have shelves that are exactly 1600 mm.

Which lumberyard? Bauhaus only has large sheets that are sold by the piece, not by the meter, which makes it really expensive... I can check Beijer tomorrow...

Bauhaus here in Uppsala cuts all types of boards for 25 SEK per cut.

Let the seller cut the laminated board and then paint the two short sides with regular white paint.

Probably won't be quite the finish I'm looking for.. Also, if the board is made of spånmtrl then filler or similar is needed before painting, no, too much hassle..

For laminated boards, there are edge strips that are glued or ironed on after they have been cut. I can spontaneously say that I am a bit skeptical, finish and byggmax tend to be a bit like that and then heating the edge strip..

Such edge strips come with Ikea's countertops to hide your cutting. I've installed a few of these and it usually turns out well.

If you're skeptical about Byggmax edge strips, they are available at most hardware stores. However, I don't think there is much difference between them.
