Hi,

Last year I built a fence with horizontal slats 28x45 mm. It looked great when it was finished, but now over the winter several slats have become warped and there are uneven gaps between the slats. What went wrong?

The material was purchased from Byggmax, which I know might not be of the same quality as other companies, but when I look around the neighborhood, it doesn't seem like they have been affected in the same way in such a short time.

Grateful for any answers.

Thanks!

How far apart are your posts?
Did you attach the slats with one or two screws in each post?

It is 1200mm between the posts and there are 4 screws in each slat, i.e., 2 per side.

I usually keep an eye after doing something similar and save scraps that I press between the slats if they start to change shape, then I let them stay there for a long time.

For me, slats usually hold up fine but 45x45 is completely hopeless, I've replaced them in stages on a fence in batches.
They even break screws sometimes.

I interpret this response as if it's jointed at each post? That sounds a bit strange but would explain why it's becoming crooked.

There are splices at every other pole.
