I'm considering adding a new doorway in one end wall of the house and at the same time closing up a window in the same wall. Could this pose any problems with the structural integrity of the wall? The beams will be cut...

In a log house, it is the gable walls and transverse interior walls that "hold together" the house, preventing the roof load from pushing out the long side and causing the house to collapse. Normally, it is possible to create fairly large openings as long as there are some logs left that can absorb the forces. The tricky part is if there are old openings that have previously weakened the house.

Insert a sketch of the current gable wall to get a better answer!

Bringing this up again now that it's time for window replacements.
(the door is still not done)

We are going to install larger windows on the lower floor, which will be +20cm in height.
This will result in the window being 10cm below the ceiling, meaning an entire beam upwards will need to be cut away.
This is the beam that is almost level with the house's floor structure.

Could this pose any risk, considering the load-bearing capacity for the floor structure's attachments?
