Hello!

We are going to open up a part of a wall in our apartment to install a door. The wall is not load-bearing, is about 10 cm thick, and consists of slag blocks (apartment building built in 1939 in Bromma in Stockholm). The ceiling height is 2.7 m. There is a cable running to an outlet on the wall, and I will check if there is any other electrical in the wall before I start cutting. According to the drawings, there are no plumbing lines in it. I have a few questions about this:

1. Do I need to frame the opening to prevent the blocks above from falling down? Or will the door frame support the blocks above sufficiently? I'm thinking of using a module size of 8x21 to avoid making the opening too large.

2. Is a reciprocating saw or a handsaw more suitable for this?

3. I plan to use a frame sleeve to simplify the alignment of the door frame. Should I use plugs when securing the sleeve and frame to the wall?

4. Anything else I should consider?

Thanks in advance!
