Hello, in the hallway, the walls are made of thick brown masonite/paper and 5 cm in from the door edges there is a seam (above the opening). The fabric that was previously put up had cracked right at the seam. After removing the fabric, I applied reinforcement tape and filled it, but the tape cracked along the seam.
Does anyone know what I can do to prevent it from cracking?

Have the same crappy material in our walls, drywall is probably the only thing that holds up reasonably well, otherwise a strip of paintable acrylic where it cracks.
It's really crap. It's almost like I have to put up new walls on the entire upper floor if nothing can be done about the cracking above the doors.

I had the same problem, but when I changed the doors, I had to cut up 5 cm and insert a new beam at the top of the wall. What I did was screw together the standing wall beams from the inside before I placed the beam above the door, no cracks now for 9 months!
