Hi, I live in a rental apartment and want to cover the door and "frame hole" into the living room from the living room.
My partner doesn't like the idea of a curtain because the wall then continues behind one of the sofas, it would be too much fabric and no space for the paintings. The room consists of three windows, one of which is angled, so there aren't many full walls. I've considered using studs and beadboard from the ceiling down, without top moldings, but with uniform baseboards at the bottom. That would create a "lid" on top, which you can then remove and fill in the holes before possibly moving. Would this work?

  • Interior view of a space with a large indoor window next to a white door, showing a chair and potted plants visible through the window opening.
If you can manage to restore, it's a good solution.
