Conservatory with laminated timber columns
Planning to build a conservatory with glazed sections at the front and sides where the back is anchored to the facade.
I have found a suitable kit according to the design, but I think it will be much cheaper to build it myself.
What is the appropriate dimension for the three front pillars? Thinking impregnated laminated wood 90x90, but maybe 2x145 beams work just as well? Or is that too weak? I live in Örebro and am considering polycarbonate.
Do I need to cast my own plinths for the front or can I use 4” ready-made ones?

The photograph is how I have it now. And I'm planning to extend the existing bay window with the conservatory so that the gable roof of the conservatory is just below the existing one with new rafters resting on laminated beams which in turn rest on glulam columns. The measurements are 2800 in depth and 1850 between the center and left/right columns.
Ok, should the sections go from the floor or be at window height?C Chk said:Oops, sorry. I understand it got a bit messy
The photograph is as I have it now. And I was thinking of extending the existing bay window with the sunroom so that the gable roof on the sunroom is just below the existing one with new roof trusses resting on the glulam beams which in turn rest on the glulam pillars. The measurements are 2800 in depth and 1850 between center and left/right pillars.
This is how it could be done.C Chk said:Oh sorry. I understand it got a bit messy
