Hello,

I am curious about having a glazed room/winter garden (year-round) in my future house. I am also curious about low-energy houses and therefore how well the really well-insulated glass compares to a "regular" outer wall.

I have read a bit about the best-insulated glass from some different winter garden suppliers. One supplier claimed that the insulating ability was good enough to be used in passive houses.

Does anyone here have experience or knowledge about this and want to share? :)

All the best!

Depending on how much you want to spend, you can get glass with a u-value of 0.4.

Best regards, fremax

Thank you for the feedback! :)

I have seen this "u-value" in various places and is it something that is also indicated for exterior walls? What does a "normal" exterior wall have for an approximate u-value?

Passive houses have walls with a U-value of about 0.125, and the windows can have a maximum of 0.9 if I remember correctly.
Kind regards, fremax
