Connecting sheet metal roof to facade with horizontal panel
Hello
I am in the process of building an American porch with a metal roof and therefore need to connect the porch roof to my wooden facade, which consists of horizontal paneling. I have gotten as far as building the actual roof and applying the roofing felt. I have folded the felt up a few cm against the facade. Now I'm planning to get the metal roofing. My idea is to attach a flashing made of metal at the porch roof-facade connection and simply screw it directly into the facade as it is - I thought I would avoid making too much impact on the existing facade.
I'm considering bending the top part of the flashing so that it "sticks in" between two panel boards.
I have a good roof overhang from the house roof, so the connection is somewhat protected at least.
1. Do you think this is a workable solution?
The flashing I am looking at is 15cm high, and since I have a white house with a black metal roof, it will be quite a substantial black "patch" on the facade.
2. Could the flashing be cut so it isn't so high?

Considering that it's common to grind a couple of millimeters into brick joints and then insert the metal sheet there, it should more than suffice to get a bent piece of metal into the joint between two boards. I even think it might turn out really well.
A 15 cm rise is grotesque, and very ugly. Completely unnecessary.
The rise depends on how much driving rain & splashing roof drip from above occurs. In turn, this depends on facade height, roof overhang & cardinal direction, as well as possibly how generally windy the location is.
