I'm trying to figure out the easiest way to expand. Currently, I have a rectangular building with a gable roof. Due to property boundaries, I can't simply extend the building. I considered placing the expansion at an angle as shown in the image below.
Green = old house
Blue = expansion
The question is, how do you best address the red line?
The new gable roof on the green building will align with the old roof, and the entire new roof will be higher than the old one.
Does anyone have access to a construction description for the easiest way to connect, or some inspirational images?
I recommend studying the meeting in detail using a 3D program, such as SketchUp. Try to shift the volumes in relation to each other. You should have a good plåtslagare with you from the start. He knows how the connections should be solved.

Thanks for the information! After fiddling around a bit, I have come to the conclusion that the extension might look like this to best utilize the plot:
The red line is 4m from the plot boundary.
The question then is how the truss will be in the area marked in blue. Is it possible to have a gable truss where you can furnish the attic with such a roof design?
Otherwise, you might consider an extension in the angle as well, if there's space in that direction?

Absolutely! But what would the roof and roof trusses look like with that solution? Ideally, though, I don't want the extension to go up the side of the main building because the patio would lose some sunlight. The patio is located "on top of" the orange box, and the sun moves from left to right, roughly.
I don't think the trusses will be a problem. It is important to consider how the extension affects the existing structure. Are there any spaces that become dark due to the extension? The advantage of offset extensions is often that existing gable windows can be retained. Please show a complete site plan with a north arrow. It makes the assessment easier.

Uploading my original proposal and Anna_H's proposal for the building layout on the site plan. The 4m distance from the property line is marked with a red line.
North is north on the images from the site plan. What I'm thinking with alternative 2 is that the patio area (green box) will become shaded.
It is primarily evening sun that is desired on patios, which in summer means almost northwest. I can't see any risk of shading. The southern sun is also high. For a successful extension, you need to experiment with both the building volumes and the possible floor plan. It is very easy to create pointless extensions that ruin as much space as they add.
