I have noticed this type of floor around ventilation duct in the cold attic; it seems the issue has been there for some time; I am confused if it is leakage of condensation; however I do not see any issue after traces coming from flashing area

  • Wooden attic floor with dark stains near metal duct, possibly from condensation or leakage.
  • Attic wooden floor with water stains near ventilation duct, likely from condensation leakage, with no signs of flashing area issues.
  • Metallic surface around attic ventilation duct with possible signs of condensation or leakage, alongside wooden framing.

Hard to tell what I see in the pictures...
However, it can be moist from either condensation or from leakage. It seems to be a joint between the steel plates where most water is so leakage from there perhaps, or just a coincidence...

If the duct contains warm air and the surrounding area is a cold attic the condensation would be on the inside of the duct, not on the outside.
My plan is to remove the floor and see around the source of moisture! I will share the pictures
