As the headline states, we have a concrete staircase that is not in very good condition. We recently bought the house, and this staircase is really the only "big" thing that needs addressing.

I wonder what can possibly be done about a staircase in this condition? We have a balcony resting on the pillars, so that complicates everything it seems. Can it be repaired? Does it have to be demolished? What might it cost to fix approximately? All tips and perspectives are welcome! :)

You can try to fix that relatively easily.
Provided that the broken pieces are secure, you can mix some mortar and press it into the joints, then smooth it out with a damp sponge. After it has set for a day, you can paint the entire staircase with a cement slurry.
