I have an entrance staircase that can be described as a concrete shell filled with sand. It is attached to the house with concrete, and there are pebble stone slabs on the wear surfaces.
Over the past winters, it has cracked more and more under the top step.
NOW it has completely cracked, and I tried to repair it last year with plaster concrete. However, I made, as I see it, 2 mistakes:
- Too fine concrete in too thick layers (poor load-bearing capacity)
- No primer before I applied the concrete
So now the plan is to buy a bag of coarser concrete and primer before winter comes...
BUT what coarseness should I use?
I realize that I will then have to apply an outer layer of plaster concrete, but that will have to wait until spring, right now I want a "moisture-proof surface" as soon as possible...
Similarly, the house and the staircase have developed a crack between them. Should I just fill it with concrete or another material?
