Hello
I have bought a brick house from 1953, 2 stories with 100 sqm per story. The house has no basement and is built with foundation footings with an intermediate poured concrete floor. The construction over the concrete floor varies, and I want to tear everything out and lay a new floor over the old concrete floor.
I am considering pouring a new layer of concrete over the old one with some form of moisture barrier in between. At the same time, I am planning to install underfloor heating in combination with geothermal heating. What is the best way to do this? Is it right/wrong to insert a moisture barrier between the concrete layers? What materials should I use? Is this a good construction to keep ground moisture out of the house?
Very grateful for your response.

The normal procedure is probably to chip away the old floor, insulate, and pour a new floor. Unless you have enough ceiling height to simply build upwards.
Check the basement project section here on the forum, there is plenty of information.
A moisture barrier in the middle of the concrete seems strange to me.

Hi, I'm planning to remove the old flooring (some in wood, other in tile, and some carpet on wood = moisture) and when I write moisture barrier, I probably mean insulation
What type of insulation should be used and should it be placed between the old concrete layer and the new one, or is it poured and then insulation is laid on top? What about installing underfloor heating in this construction, is it a good idea or would it be wasteful?
