We are going to replace our roof and the craftsman says that Benders clay tiles are much cheaper than Vittinges and that there is no difference in quality.

Is there any quality difference between Benders and Vittinges? Note, not concrete tiles.

Hello.
When I was re-roofing the tile roof on the cottage last summer (-08), I got completely different answers depending on which builder/craftsman you asked, which was not entirely unexpected.
I concluded that tiles are often about twice the price compared to concrete tiles and that clay tile from Vittinge was about 0.6 kg lighter per tile than the equivalent from Benders.
Both brands feel stable, but as Vittinge's is lighter, I would have chosen it in the first place.
In my case, it was a re-roofing with existing older tiles as I also had a large number of extra tiles lying around. See links below for more info. Good luck, best regards Jocke.

Without reading the datasheets: The fact that Vittinges are lighter suggests that they are thinner, i.e., contain less material. In the long run, this could mean a slightly more fragile tile.
