Hi,
We have just demolished a shed that stood on an uninsulated slab. We noticed it smelled a bit "earthy" in the shed and it wasn't in good condition, so we decided to tear it down and build a new one.
To prevent ground moisture, we were advised on the following construction from the ground up:
1. Uninsulated concrete slab (existing)
2. Platon sheet to cover the entire concrete slab
3. Sill plate (for the bottom framework to rest on)
4. Bottom framework of pressure-treated timber
5. Shed construction made of regular untreated timber
In the gaps between the bottom joists, we plan to lay the following:
5. Foam insulation 200mm
6. Chipboard flooring
7. Laminate flooring
Do you think this would work to prevent ground moisture from seeping into the floor?
P.S. To prevent the holes in the Platon sheet from being pressed shut, we have filled them with sand where the joists will lie.
