Hello!

I'm not very knowledgeable about the size of macadam, but I would need some for my garage driveway and also to put under a lying deck that I'm going to build. Can I use the same macadam for both, or will I need two different types? I've checked some sizes on http://www.ballastsverige.se/sv/Vara-produkter/Makadam/ and have seen that 8/16 and 11/16 work well for driveways, but what should I use to complement my deck construction?

Laying deck, aren't they all? ;)

8/16 or 11/16 doesn't matter, go with what's cheapest. Under the deck, it's important to have a weed barrier under the macadam though.

On the driveway, it can be an advantage to use gravel (macadam is a crushed product with sharp edges) because it consists of stone from natural gravel which is naturally rounded and therefore much nicer to walk on barefoot.

Under the deck, it doesn't matter what you use.

Good luck!

For the driveway to the garage, I would prefer 0-18 as the top layer to get a hard surface that is easier to shovel...

Thank you so much for the answers! Gave me plenty of answers so now I know how to proceed :)

However, a question, how much gravel will approximately be needed? The patio I am going to build will probably be around 15-20 square meters. The driveway is likely the same size and will just need a nice layer over the old one.

It's enough to lay 2-3 cm, calculate on 3 to be safe. 40 sqm x 0.03 = 1.2 cubic meters. A density of 1.6 tons/cbm means you need about 2 tons. You can easily drive that with 2-3 trips to the gravel pit with a trailer, usually a flat rate for a trailer. It will probably be 500-1000 SEK more expensive if you order it home with a truck.
