Hello! I'm planning to extend old floorboards with new ones. I'm wondering how big the gaps can be between them and if the self-leveling compound will fill this up? Is it okay to just use the self-leveling compound if the board has chipped a little? Attaching images so you can see what I mean. Thanks!

  • Old and new subfloor junction showing chipped plywood, insulation, and tools for renovation.
  • Close-up of a floor construction with yellow insulation, wood panels, and a junction between an old and new chipboard subfloor.

Press in some acrylic sealant into the gap and don't forget to prime before self-leveling.

Yes, that's the plan. The question is whether the gap can be 10mm or a maximum of 2?

If you mix self-leveling compound according to the instructions, it becomes quite "runny". Isn't it just a matter of applying latex so it turns out right and you don't have to worry?
