Chimney with outdoor fireplace, why?
My newly purchased brick house built in 59 has a chimney with 7 flue channels. There is a fireplace inside the living room, but the chimney extends outside the living room, and there is a fireplace outside facing the garden. I assume that currently, it's not possible to use the fireplace without a stove and cleaning, but I'm curious about why they placed a fireplace outside the house. What is the purpose?

Cozy fires and sausage grilling on summer evenings?
It was very common in the past to complement a house with a fireplace or something similar. There were big problems with getting a chimney in a good way. The easiest was to place it on the outside and a gable. Just rubbish really, but what can you do, it can't generate any heat for the house, only the crows get warm feet. """" the church should be in the middle of the village """" (preferably in the middle of the house), and then the chimney warms up and gives heat to the house. Many did so and got a patio with a fireplace at the same time. You should ideally block off the outside, and by burning inside, the chimney will become a little warmer, so it doesn't become a true cold plug in the pipe and difficult to get draft when lighting indoors.
