Hello!

I'm going to attach a carrying beam to the deck in the house, and the screw recommended to me by the hardware store doesn't hold in my house wall made of leca. So I thought I would attach hot-dip galvanized threaded rods and fasten the carrying beam with those instead.

What do you think works best for leca, chemical anchors or anchor adhesive?

Tips on the dimension of the threaded rods are appreciated as well. The deck (glazed and insulated) will be 42sqm (10x4.2).

The house is from 1967 if that affects anything.

Chemical anchor, dimension a few mm smaller than the hole you drilled, not sure which screw you were recommended but fischer fur-t is a screw with a plug that attaches to most things including concrete hollow blocks.

Ok, thanks! How thick of a threaded rod might be needed?

The screw they recommended was from Västsvensk Byggskruv AB. They said not to use plugs with it, 50% of those I drove into the wall held really well, but the rest just spun around.

Facade plug?

What size hole do you have after the screws you drove in? Use a drill with the same diameter, blow it clean and use a chemical anchor, then the threaded rod. The trick is to pull the ledger board against the façade with maximum friction against it; the rod doesn't bear any weight, so make sure the other screws really hold.

Thank you!

Today I bought M8 threaded rod and anchor compound; they didn't have chemical anchors for M8, but according to the building supply store, it was just as good?

Now it's time to start building :).
