Hi!

Simple advice requested – and all responses are appreciated.

My wife backed the car's tow bar into one of the painted asbestos boards (floor to ceiling) that cover the facade under the carport (the boards will eventually be replaced with wood paneling). The result is a hole at knee height about 10 x 10 cm with cracks in all directions. Both for my own sake but especially for the kids, I want to seal the damage so that the "broken surface" with all the asbestos fibers is not exposed. The idea is therefore to seal the hole – as simply/cheaply as possible until the boards are replaced. What can be done?

I'm considering covering the hole with a piece of plywood or something similar – but since it's still zero to subzero outside, it's tricky to know which adhesive can be used to keep the board in place (nailing or screwing is of course out of the question since the base is, as mentioned, asbestos). Does expanding foam work?

Grateful for your response

Jörgen

Now, it's not like you get cancer just by looking at a broken piece of eternit, so you can wait for warmer weather if you're not terribly bothered by the damage. Otherwise, go ahead and screw in a few screws. The few fibers that come loose under the plywood aren't going anywhere.
