I have 12mm thick foil-coated particle boards as a ceiling under a middle floor joist with cc60. I'm considering the easiest way to make it smooth, i.e., without these ugly seams running along the joists.
Can you scrape and fill the seams and then glue reinforcing fabric to the ceiling? Foil-coated boards would probably make it difficult to get it to stick properly.
Can you screw renovation plasterboard onto the particle boards? Or is there a risk that it will sag?
Or is there only one alternative? That is to tear down and use cc30 with 13mm plasterboard?
Tips and ideas are appreciated!

I did exactly as you suggest. I filled all the seams 3 times and glued with reinforcement fabric. I glued with Bostic Wall strong, it's a slightly stronger adhesive. Painted probably 3 times as well. I have a nice smooth ceiling that hasn't changed in 10 years.

Well then! Maybe you can even roughen the surface a bit with an 80paper to get better adhesion. Just got maybe 10 rolls of fabric from work that were "bad" so it fits perfectly.
Thanks for the answer and the tip about the glue!

You can do that if you want. Don't remember if I sanded but it doesn't hurt. I know people usually "prime" with adhesion primer or something similar to increase adhesion but I didn't do that.
