Hello

I have an existing ceiling in the hall as shown in the pictures. Above the boards, there is some kind of black 'paper'. Above the black paper is the original ceiling (plaster on reed mat). I don't like the 70s solution and want a new ceiling.

Question 1: Is there anything that speaks against me placing drywall or panel directly on the boards? The height right now is 244.5, so I can afford to build down a bit.

Question 2: Ceiling panel or drywall. What are the pros/cons of both? What is easiest for an amateur? We will keep the existing wiring for ceiling lights.

Best regards,
Bengt
