I actually have a two-part question
The roof of our porch consists only of beams, battens, and roof tiles (so there is no ceiling). Is this common in old or for that matter new houses?
If I were to put up a ceiling, how "sturdy" should it be made? Do I need to use inner paneling, oilboard, underlay felt, etc... Or would it be enough to put up the ceiling directly under the battens?
If I were to make it period-appropriate (the house is from the late 1800s), how would I do it then?
Maybe it became a three-part question
Thankful for answers
