I am going to lower my ceiling by 6.5cm to conceal cracks, wiring, and improve lighting.
I plan to use 45mm steel studs. The maximum length will be 180cm, and I had intended to use gypsum on them.
Is it okay to drill holes for the spotlight cables that will go in VP in the studs, or will they become too weak then?

I probably would not have used reglar because they tend to bend when you can't hold them while screwing in the plasterboard. Instead, use a secondary profile.
With a primary profile it becomes 70 mm, and that is needed when they are that length.

I had planned to use steel rail http://www.byggmax.com/se-sv/prod/pid-20814.aspx all around, and then 45mm steel stud http://www.byggmax.com/se-sv/prod/pid-20842.aspx that you thread into the steel rails. (Isn't that how you do it?)
It will be on CC30, I have the option to use nail plugs or whatever directly into the concrete ceiling that will be directly above. Will it be too weak then?

Then I guess that steel rails + steel studs are mainly for walls, although I have seen some people use them for ceilings too.
In any case, I can't build with more than approximately 45mm of studs, so if there is no better alternative that takes up the same space, I'll have to go with studs or secondary profiles only and also make fixings in the ceiling at regular intervals to support it.

there is another system that looks like reglar but I have never used that model.
