Hello.

I am setting up the roof trusses on my newly built stable with a center-to-center spacing of 600mm. I plan to lay 22mm floor particle board over the tie beams, which will become the floor of the hayloft. Is it enough to have a 600mm center-to-center spacing in the "floor structure" and lay 22mm floor particle board on it? Or will I fall through? Of course, I intend to fill up with 45x70 studs between the roof trusses to create a "grid pattern," but the question is: Is 600mm center-to-center spacing sufficient? 22mm is thick, but will it become bouncy?

Thankful for answers.

as a hayloft it's probably a bit weak, but maybe that's not how it's supposed to be used? but as a walkway, it's completely fine

Did the same in my attic and I think it turned out well. Doesn't feel like it gives at all. I use it for storage and nothing has collapsed yet.

it holds up extremely well.....

What is the thickness of your joist floor and what is the span?
My entire house is built like this: c/c 600 + 22mm floor chipboard on 45x220 up to 4.80m span. Completely rigid and, of course, fully approved by the designer.

You should probably glue AND screw the boards to the joist floor.

You don't need to kortla. You lay the boards across the rafters, not along them. Either you splice on the rafters and there won't be much waste if you have cc60, or you splice in between if this is allowed according to the instructions on the floor particle board...

It is usually that you cannot join two rows between the same joists, i.e., at least 60cm between the joints.

Chipboard flooring on 60 cm centers is probably not a problem.

However, you might want to consider how much total load there can be on the floor. Hayloft sounds heavy.

In that case, it is not the boards that might be a problem, but the strength of the beams and their support.

is particle board suitable for a stable? it does absorb moisture

impregnated particle board is available....

aha, I didn't know that impregnated floor chipboard existed...

A V313 moisture-resistant floor should be sufficient.

Otherwise, it's quite nice with a tongue-and-groove 95x34mm spruce floor nailed from above.

Absolutely sufficient.
