I plan to cast 2 concrete steps (80x40x20 cm) and if I've calculated correctly, it will require about 150kg of concrete. I will cast one step at a time, meaning 3 bags of 25kg each that need to be mixed in, for example, a wheelbarrow. So my question is whether this amount is possible with a mixer or if a cement mixer is needed? I was hoping to avoid renting one since it's not that large an amount of concrete.

It's enough to mix in a wheelbarrow when there's so little, works excellently. Helped to cast a stair with five steps a while ago where we used a wheelbarrow. Took one step at a time. Good luck!

Ah so relieving, seemed cumbersome to drag a cement mixer here for such a small amount of material :). Did you use a whisk/mixer or some other tool?

I only use a shovel. Take inspiration from this video.

A tip is not to pour in all the water at once (the amount can be found on the package); it shouldn't be too wet, as it usually gets wetter over time. Feel free to mix it a bit longer than our English-speaking friend.

Good luck!
