Hello!

Rookie when it comes to casting, so a bit of advice would be appreciated.

I've removed the threshold iron etc. to create a smoother driveway and a slope out of the garage. The reason is that I've installed a sectional garage door. There won't be any new iron.

The old garage slab is from the 60s, roughly.

There will be about 20mm of stone dust between the slabs and the new casting.
Naturally, it should be cleaned from various loose concrete etc.

Now the question is:
- What should I cast with?
- Do I need some form of "primer" for the new casting to adhere?

Construction site showing a concrete slab being measured with a tape measure, adjacent to a garage entrance under renovation for better sloping.

Vacuum, water, primer, fine concrete. That's how I would have done it.

Primer -> Something I already have on the shelf (from self-leveling compound) or something special?
Finbetong -> Like Finjas C32/40

That will be fine.

I would have used fiber-reinforced repair concrete, regarding the primer, use Finja's own if you plan to use their mortar.

Are you thinking of Finja's Repair Concrete C40/50?

Yes, it is good. The reason for choosing repair concrete, besides the fiber reinforcement, is that it has better durability against road salt and it is more fluid, which is important for this type of repairs.

How smooth?

I need to create a slope from right to left in the image above. That is, from the smooth garage floor down to the tiles. Closest to the camera, it will be level with the tiles and furthest in the image about 2cm higher than the tiles. The tiles have a slope away in the image.

Is this the primer you are thinking of?

More fluid than fine concrete but not like self-leveling compound, just keep the water amount exactly as on the bag, works well for building slopes. Not sure if that primer is for outdoor use on horizontal surfaces, Bemix Korrohäft is otherwise the best:
