I'm in the process of pouring a slab for a garage in a carport (not insulated). Even though we live in Skåne, it's cold right now. And I don't want the project to stall. I've covered the entire carport with tarps on the walls and "ceiling" with tarps. So right now it's only 60cm high and a diesel heater keeps it at 7-10 degrees despite -6 outside.

I've bought 10mm winter mats that I will lay after pouring in 2-3 layers, so a total of 20-30mm depending on when the roll runs out.

I will ensure that the form gets plenty of warmth 30-40 hours before pouring. And after pouring, my goal is to have around 5 degrees in the "tent" during the first few days. The slab is supposed to be 10cm.

Now to the question. I've heard that you should put plastic over the slab as well. According to AI, you should lay the winter mats first and then the plastic. But that sounds strange to me? What do you say?

Attaching a picture of how it looks.

What, are you using a diesel heater several days in advance?
I don't know if you've poured.
But plastic is placed so that the moisture doesn't escape.
Not needed in your case.
I know many balconies that have been poured when it's 2-3 degrees below zero without problems, the concrete generates heat.
I would say it's enough with zero or a few degrees above during pouring and the first day.
After that, it can be -, the curing process just slows down.
