Hello.
I have started tearing out and digging up the kitchen floor in my cabin. There was only an old chipboard and then dirt directly underneath. The plan is to pour a slab instead. 15cm gravel, 30cm cellplast, 10cm concrete. But the question I have now is how to seal against the foundation? Not all the stones seem to be load-bearing. As you can see in the pictures, there are holes right out. (No wonder the floor was drafty in the winter.) I'm also wondering what to put between the kitchen and the next room? That room has joists with construction plastic at the bottom. (See image no. 2, 4, 5.) I have a carpenter friend who has helped me with everything so far, but I don't want to burden him with all the questions, so I'm checking with you instead. :)

  • Exposed foundation stones and dirt floor in a partially demolished kitchen showing gaps and non-load-bearing stones.
  • Exposed foundation in a partially demolished kitchen floor with visible soil and insulation sheet held with yellow tape.
  • Stones arranged as a foundation with visible gaps under a wall in a cabin, showing a partially excavated dirt floor in a renovation project.
  • Exposed area under a cabin floor showing dirt, old planks, and stones, with visible gaps and electrical outlets on the wall above.
  • Foundation of a cabin with exposed earth and gaps, indicating incomplete construction. Temporary plastic cover taped in yellow is visible on a door.

How did it turn out?
