I've had a small idea regarding our patio. I'm thinking of making a circular paving, about 4 meters in diameter. In the middle of the paving, I plan to cast a round table with a diameter of 1500 mm. Around the table, I want to cast 6 stools with a suitable diameter to sit on, about 300 mm.

I haven't quite decided on the thickness of the slab yet, but the thicker, the nicer I think.

Has anyone made their own round table?

My idea is to buy a casting tube with a diameter of 500 mm, then place it on a foundation in the ground and put the round mold on the casting tube.

- Does anyone have any tips on what can be used as a round mold with a diameter of 1500 mm for the slab?

- It doesn't really matter how heavy the table becomes, but the less concrete, the cheaper the table will be. Should I cast in polystyrene?

- Tips on round casting tubes 500 mm. I found some prices online, and it would cost 695 SEK each. You could almost buy a table for that price in the store.

- Any other tips or ideas on what materials could be used so the table doesn't become very expensive. Part of the idea, of course, is that it should be cheaper than buying it in the store, although the biggest pleasure is having made it yourself.

I was thinking of casting in quick concrete, with reinforcement of course that connects the base with the slab itself. Since it will be so heavy, I probably need to cast it on-site and not upside down as is usually done.

I would like to have a mirror-smooth surface on the slab, so my idea was to place a hard plastic sheet as a "lid" on the mold when the concrete is in place. Do you think that could work?
