Hello,

I have removed a wall in the hallway and now I see the wooden beam that was in the wall against the concrete slab. I would now like to lay a new tiled floor on the existing lacquered brick floor.

Can I fill the hole from the wall with fine concrete and thus cast in the wooden beam that was part of the wall, even though it is organic material?

Removing the wooden beam seems unnecessary since it's only about 0.5 meters and it continues under the brick floor.

Best regards,

Robert

Hello,

Is it on the ground floor (the slab) or?

Quite frankly, there is a risk of microbial growth on the wood, with the risk of odor and other fun stuff. Personally, I would rather remove it than cast it in..

Hello,

That's correct, it is on the ground floor!

Can you put plastic on the joist and then cast?

Best regards,

Robert

Unfortunately, still just as bad an idea. The plastic would only trap any moisture and speed up the process.
