Can you paint over this?

I have bought a turnkey house where the contractor has some painting left to do.

Is this okay or should the affected boards be replaced?

You underestimate the work involved in replacing those. It's not going to happen, and it's not needed either.

Sure, I might be underestimating the job, but I think that if it needed to be changed, the house supplier might prefer to paint over it and move on. Whereas I would rather have it fixed.
