Hello,

We need a new set of doors in the basement and can note that the existing doors are smaller than standard. In most cases, they are 73x195 while most used doors we find are at least 205 cm high?

So the question is, do we need to find the exact measurement or can doors be trimmed? Even if they are glass doors like these:

Glass double doors with a wooden frame, featuring a grid of small glass panes. Behind the doors, an interior room with furniture is visible.

Of course, we could buy new doors, but the price difference is enormous and often you can get doors in sufficiently good condition used.

First, you measure how much needs to be trimmed off the bottom of the doors, then you lift them off and cut them with a circular saw or whatever you have to saw with. It's not more difficult than that.

I was at Bauhaus a while ago and it said there that only a few of their doors could be trimmed? But generally, there's no problem trimming a door in height, right?

Have cut low-price doors from Bauhaus that have paper inside them and it has gone excellently. You have to make sure to save the wooden pieces that are located at the top or bottom of the door. When you have finished sawing, glue them back into the door.

You'll probably have to move up the panel at the bottom when you cut the door that much. Inside the door, there is corrugated cardboard that you can easily compress when you reattach the panel after cutting it to the right height. Tape the veneer where you will be sawing, before you start sawing!
