I have a TV antenna that I would like to cut. How do you “seal” the cable? Is it possible to just buy them?

  • A coaxial cable is protruding from a wall, running along a wooden floor, with peeling wallpaper visible above it.
  • TV antenna cable emerging from a wall with torn wallpaper, showing an electrical connector.
Is it an apartment or a house?

I cut mine 15 years ago. Remove the antenna too.

Maybe it's time to run Ethernet in the house? You might be able to use the pipes for that? It works better than WiFi, even though WiFi has improved over the past five years. I have two base stations and need Ethernet between them for it to work really well, but maybe not everyone has the same requirements as I do...

It depends on what is at the other end of the cable. Is it an antenna, a cable modem, an amplifier, a cable TV association, a fiber modem, or something else?

Yes, then it should be quite risk-free to cut the cable, but use the existing cable as a pull wire for example a couple of data cables if you plan to have a cable network in the house and don't want to open walls to pull new ones.

Or you can buy a pull wire that has lower friction and pays for itself after the first use in the form of avoided curse words. Vacuum cleaner and thread also work quite well, I've used it to pull in a pull wire where even that won't get through...
