Can leca blocks withstand heat?

I was planning to build a gas-powered fireplace out of leca blocks but am wondering how these blocks withstand heat.

Maybe I should go for aerated concrete instead?

What do you experts think?

The balls in Leca blocks are made of burnt clay, so they should withstand some heat. Otherwise, you might be able to put a thin layer of fireproof brick around the actual hearth.

I would check with the supplier of your unit to see what solutions they recommend... how hot does it get?
Otherwise, do as "Faidos" suggests!
And lightweight concrete is not better than Leca!!!
