Well, I've bitten off more than I can chew again... ;)

We've decided to build a lower wall to screen our patio a bit (about 1.2m high and 4m long). We'll build the wall with lecablock, which we will then plaster.
My combined experience with masonry is the training I acquired in my youth with the help of Lego, as well as what I've read on this forum. This means I am very grateful for all the help I can get.

As I understand it, it's unsuitable to only plaster the top of the wall—rather, you should use some sort of water-repelling solution, like roof tiles or metal sheets? Unfortunately, I don't think either of these options would pass the aesthetic committee at home... But by pure chance, I thought of the edging stones that were left over when we fixed the parking area. They are about 2-3 cm wider than the lecablock.

Is there any knowledgeable mason who can help me determine if this is a good or bad idea and take the time to explain why?

Hi Bjoellander,

The stones appear to be granite, so they will certainly be excellent as water protection on top of the wall. The problem that might arise is how you handle the waterproofing between the stones. I think it would be wise to weld an asphalt mat on top of the wall, and then glue the stones with hot asphalt.

Maybe someone else has experience with similar walls.
