I have ripped out all the junk from our cold basement which was quite damp, and installed a dehumidifier so now it feels fresher.
I'm also in the process of tearing down the old basement ceiling since it was in poor condition + removing all the sawdust that served as insulation. So I'm planning to completely redo it.

My question is what type of ceiling I should have; in the crawl space, I have subfloor boards (treated hardboard), but in the basement ceiling, you want to be able to install fixtures, etc.

So it is supposed to become some kind of panel, the simplest possible. Do you think sauna paneling will work? According to the description, it should withstand moisture fluctuations, which seems suitable for this unheated basement. What suggestions do you have? As usual, I need a suggestion pretty quickly... :blushing:
