Hello!

If you're going to buy fence posts that aren't treated, should you aim for regular studs?

I don't really understand the wood classification that retailers refer to, but the studs I've found at Beijer are C24. Is that basically crumbly junk, or is it of decent quality?

Due to a long story about ecology and the environment, I will probably burn the posts and replace them more often instead of using treated material.
Therefore, I'm not looking for a discussion here about whether today's treatment is environmentally friendly or not, but I want tips on what type of untreated wood I should buy. :)

In general, it can be said that the denser the growth, the more resistant it is to rot. The classification system (C14, C24, etc.) is a system for classifying the strength of construction and is not the same thing; it's about the amount of knots, etc., in addition to how dense the growth is.

Historically, I believe Al has been used for constructions in wet environments. Otherwise, densely grown pine, preferably the core, is also suitable.

Ok, thanks for the explanation! I really couldn't bother to understand that system tonight :)

Anyway - I guess I'll call Beijer and see if they know someone who might be selling this. Ek I've also read is insanely good for the purpose.
