Buying construction materials abroad
Considering buying isoleca blocks from Poland. Talked to Optimera and I can get Leca Isoblock 35x19x50 cm. 628:- / sqm.
Does anyone know what the equivalent price is in Poland? A bit unsure if the price difference is significant enough to be worth it.
Edit:
Above it says
490 x 360 x 240 mm for about 459-570kr/m2
Do they have the same block format as we do?

planning to renovate the kitchen with a new Ikea kitchen. Downloaded the Ikea home planner from Swedish Ikea and sketched out the dream kitchen. Final price (only cabinet frames and doors, no appliances or anything else) was 49,000 kroner. Uninstalled the program and downloaded Ikea home planner from www.ikea.pl. Opened my saved sketch and voila, now the total price was 34,000 kr, so 15 thousand cheaper. Might end up ordering and taking a weekend in Gdansk.
Anyone pre-ordered goods at Ikea in Gdansk? It would be a bummer if you got there and half of it was out of stock or special order, as is the case in some stores in Sweden.

Tips on affordable accommodation near Gdansk. Preferably with secure/monitored parking desired
Going next week to check out the building market in Poland for the house construction. How have you others handled the shipping?
We're going to buy a lot, so using our own car and trailer won't work.
Do stores like Castorama have their own shipping options?
I've tried emailing but haven't gotten a response from them yet.
Does anyone know of any shipping company either in Poland or in the Stockholm area and have approximate price information for a shipment from Gdansk to the Nynäshamn area?

It was a few years ago since we went down, but back then the stores could pack on pallets and take it to the ferry for ~100:- then freight charges from the ferry company that loads the pallets on board would be added (prices per pallet are listed on the website), and then you pick up the pallets in Nynäshamn or Karlskrona or wherever you are traveling from.
That's probably the cheapest way to get the stuff over; if you hire a shipping company, the items will go by truck to Sweden.
However, if you buy a truck full of items, it might pay off for the truck to drive the whole way, of course.

Thanks for the information. I checked Polferries' website (Nynäshamn line) and it was in English, so I will review it a bit more thoroughly at some point.
BUT, I finally got a response from Castorama today.
""Price of delivery to ship port Nynashamn for 1 palet euro (euro is type of palet) which high is 1.5m finally will be around 155 euro. In this option you must take this delivery from port in Sweden to your house own transport. Second option is when we’ll bring delivery from Castorama to your front door (if it is around Stockholm), that will be around 270 euro for 1 palet. Prices will be different if you’ll order more than 1 palet."""

Yes, they have, among other things, Beckers paint mixing machines and paint cans in the same series as here at home and with Swedish text on them.
Mao. identical to what many paint dealers use here at home.

Hello!
I would like to get in touch with someone who has been to Poland and checked out the supply of building materials recently. I am planning to expand my vacation home, so I am interested in all conceivable building materials, kitchens, plumbing articles, etc.
Is it still worth going down? How advantageous are the prices?
Which products are worth buying?
Where can you find the best stores/warehouses?
It would be very exciting to hear someone talk about their experiences. Furthermore, tips on "traps" to avoid as a "rookie" would be appreciated.
Thanks a lot!

Many Swedish HVAC companies, among others, have their factories in Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, etc. Does anyone have information on these or other factories in the construction and electronics industries that one can buy directly from?
I personally know acquaintances who have bought everything from kayaks in Latvia to flat-screen TVs in Germany and saved thousands of kronor.

We went to Poland - Gdansk last spring and checked out the large stores (like Bauhaus but x10). Castorama became our favorite. See the website and subscribe to the weekly newsletter to get an idea. http://www.castorama.pl/
Sure, some things were cheaper but it can be difficult to save if you don't see the trip as a vacation—which we did. Sinks and such are cheaper but tools aren't worth the trip. In our opinion, anyway. We brought home some bamboo flooring, a type of paxfan and some small tools, and would have bought tiles and ceramics if we had space. We emailed and asked beforehand what the shipping would be and when we were down there, we got a completely different answer. That's why we didn't buy more than what fit in the car. We had planned to buy all the flooring, tiles, ceramics and adhesives, sinks, showers, and exterior doors, etc., but now there was a different shipping price and it was a shame. They were otherwise very helpful and a guy went around with us for a long time and explained what we didn't understand since some things were in Polish.
This is the email from spring 2008.

and are you satisfied with it?
I might go down this weekend and haven't decided whether it will be a truck or a van. I'm considering taking the truck to buy about 70 m2 of bruk and insulation. Has anyone tried any of the local brands and has experience with them? Has anyone bought windows from places like Castorama, etc.? I'm looking for some that are in stock so I can take them home directly and install them in an extension.
You have managed to persuade even me... I will plan a scouting trip soon. What I intend to buy includes:
Plumbing
Clinker
Tiles
Recessed ceiling spotlights
Fireplaces
Granite countertops
Paint and wallpaper
Electrical outlets
Oak baseboards
Parquet flooring
Possibly a spa bath and pool
I can't find anyone in the thread who has bought granite countertops, is there anyone with experience in this? Also, is there any type of Junkers ship flooring?
