Buying construction materials abroad
Most stores in Poland accept bank cards/credit cards (i.e. VISA, Mastercard, AmEx), often including grocery stores.
There are also plenty of ATMs in all major cities - often even in the shopping centers you visit - so you don't need to exchange a lot of money in Sweden beforehand. However, having some cash can be useful!
Just keep in mind that if you plan to make large purchases (e.g., over 10,000 SEK) with a card, talk to the bank/card company in advance. Sudden large withdrawals in Poland can otherwise result in your purchases being denied by the company's anti-fraud system.

Hey!!
I wonder if it's not MediaMarkt that is the cheapest for home appliances, they have a selection that's quite impressive. Then there's that Polish chain located right next to Ikea and Obi in Gdansk, I think it was called AGV or RTG or something like that, they had incredibly good prices on home cinema amplifiers, it was especially Onkyo that I noticed was so much cheaper than back home. It was there that the carpenter bought his E-lux condenser tumbler and 1200 rpm washing machine.
Best regards,
Skopis

Grand Hotel in Sopot. For a fee, you can park in a guarded enclosure opposite the hotel. Nice hotel on the beach in the resort town of Sopot, which is part of the tri-city of Gdynia, Sopot, Gdansk. Expensive for Poland but cheap for Sweden. If you bring the kids, they can play on the beach while you rush between the department stores.

I'm hunting for prices on garage doors in Poland, I'm interested in Hörmann Lpu 40 with opener. Has anyone bought these there? What did you pay? I have received a price quote for the door at 3613 PLN
opener for 1100 PLN
Are these good prices compared to what you've got, these are from castorama

The price of a Hörmann LPU40 garage door depends entirely on the size... LPU40 means that it is the model (appearance) LPU with 40mm insulation. It has nothing to do with the size... I bought an LPU40 2500x2500, M-profile, Silkgrain surface, white color with opener from Castorama in Rumia (see my previous post about this) and saved 33% compared to buying in Sweden.
First, find out which size and model you want, then what the garage door costs in Sweden, and compare it with the price you get from Castorama. Don't forget to consider the current exchange rate - this will give you a better picture of whether it's a good deal or not!
On the German Hörmann site, there's a 'price list' for Germany that can be downloaded. This can give an indication of what the prices are in the home country. The price in Poland was significantly cheaper for us than that.

My advice to anyone planning to build timber framework houses, etc., is to contact a contractor who can provide services such as purchasing materials in Poland/Latvia with the right contacts and delivery to Sweden.
Swedish management - with skilled labor from Latvia.
Active participation in production and ensuring quality.
Best regards, Marko

Sitting and looking at Castorama's website, there are 3 Castorama in the Gdansk area. Does anyone know which one is the most well-stocked?
We need aluminum kitchen appliances, which are a bit hard to find here at home, has anyone seen them in Poland?
Any more tips on accommodation in the Gdansk area with fenced parking? We thought 80 euro/night was a bit steep.....
