Built-in closet - which material for narrow gap
I'm in the process of installing a couple of Ikea Pax wardrobes. The wardrobes are 150cm wide (50+100), and the wall is 156-157cm wide. Ideally, I want the wardrobe centered on the wall, i.e., a 3-3.5cm gap between the wall and the wardrobe on each side.
If the gap between the wall and the wardrobe were larger, I would have made a frame on the wall and wardrobe side, and then placed drywall on it. But now that the gap is about 3cm, I'm not quite sure how to proceed. I'm thinking of placing a thin stud (is there such a thin stud?) against the wall, but then it becomes quite narrow for a strip of drywall, so I'm considering finding a suitable moulding instead. (I will have to trim the moulding as I most likely won't find the right width, plus the wall isn't straight.) I was planning to fill and paint the surface, as I think it will look best. If I use a moulding instead of drywall, I don't know if it will look good to either keep the moulding as it is or fill and paint it as if it were a "normal wall."
What would you do?

I placed the wardrobes against one wall and added a spacer piece in MDF that I painted against the other wall. I also had to add a spacer piece above due to the ceiling height, so it looks quite okay in my opinion.
Probably a boring answer, but in a closet room, I would have painted/wallpapered the room and laid the flooring. Then just placed the wardrobes and skipped the filler pieces. It's not a space you spend time in, but a storage for clothes.
