Hello!

I have bought a 180 kg heavy sink that I am going to build a vanity for. I have found 15x15 beams that I plan to use, but I am unsure how to assemble it so that it won't be wobbly/unstable to place such a heavy sink on. Do you think this would work? And how should one assemble/join the beams?

  • Heavy concrete sink on wooden supports, 15x15 beams stacked nearby, and a draft sketch of a support structure.
If I were to hazard a guess, I would think you could place at least 20 tons on a 150x150 post that is a few meters long...

I assume the sketch isn't as it is because you want that look, but rather something overkill that's supposed to hold?

Assume you want something rustic-looking anyway? And that you want to build it yourself?

If function is important, I think it's easier to choose a ready-made vanity and adapt it to hold the weight...

Yes, I'm not worried the beam won't hold, more about whether the construction will hold. So that it doesn't become wobbly.

I want this look more than it being a correct construction sketch, yes. :D

I want the look but of course, it should function construction-wise.

What is the size of the sink?

I think it will look quite bulky with such a large "rectangle" underneath... 🤔

What are the possibilities to attach it to the wall?

105 cm x 54 cm

Maybe so, but we'll probably later look for cabinet doors that we'll put in front.

Yes, it can be mounted on the wall.
