Hello

I am planning to build a straight staircase from the garage up to our hall, everything is newly built. I'm wondering if it's difficult. The height difference from floor to floor is about 245 cm and we are planning the staircase to be about 1m wide. The space under the staircase is valuable to keep, otherwise, I would have certainly built steps step by step, which I'm pretty sure I could succeed well with.

Consideration 1: How wide should a staircase be to not be insane? Of course, it would be very nice if it were wider than 1m, but then it takes up space in the garage and makes it difficult to open the car door.

We are thinking of carrying groceries up the stairs, and we don't want it to be so narrow that you drag the bags against the walls, which will soon become unsightly. If 80 cm works, we are happy to go with that. We have tested a bit and simulated the need lightly and are considering that 100 cm might be more than necessary.

Consideration 2: The partition wall: Build leca all the way, or wooden frame on top of one course?
The staircase should be straight, with one long side brushing against the outer wall and the other long side following an inner wall we are building in the garage, probably 10 cm thick, which should be sufficient to support the floor structure above, as it cannot rest on the outer wall parallel to the staircase. Either the wall is built up with leca, or it's one course, then 45x95 on top at CC30.

Then I don't know if you use a stringer or just cut loose steps that you attach with angle irons/screws directly into the wall.

Consideration 3: The dream of a cast staircase to avoid footstep noise
My very first thought and dream was to cast a staircase on-site, but it feels a bit complicated for a layman. Most who cast their stairs seem to cast all the way down, meaning you can't use the space underneath. But it should be possible to build a form that you prop up with joists and with reinforcement anchored into the neighboring walls.

Have you built your staircase?

Thanks for the thoughts!
