Prerequisites. Residential plot with a large driveway where deer come every evening. They walk along the driveway onto the plot and eat everything and pull everything out of the soil and pots. I am tired of it.
Planning a fence along certain parts of the plot, "sits in the hedge" and isn't visible.
It's difficult to have a gate on the driveway as it's not possible to have an opening for bicycles and pedestrians on the narrow space, about 4 meters.
Therefore, there will now be a fence between the house and the next building, which will shield the plot from the animals. I myself need to be able to pass through, so I am planning a gate. So the deer will only have access to what is along the driveway.
The fence isn't visible as it is gray. So it might look like there's just a gate standing there.
I'm thinking about a width of about 120 cm. 70x70 posts.
Where do I start, pour footings and attach posts first?
How is a gate best built, do simple horizontal slats work?
Should the post shoe have its fastenings on the right/left as the gate "pulls"/hangs more to these sides, or is there a risk that the post might then start to wobble back and forth?
Which side would you choose to have the nicer side facing? From the garden or from the garage driveway?
Should it open inward or outward? There is a slight slope down to the garden and lawn.
I'm thinking of a frame, a diagonal slat, and some horizontal slats on it. No super heavy material.
